Deceptive Carpenter Ant
Camponotus decipiens

Deceptive carpenter ants inhabit warm wooded habitats, nesting in dead wood, hollow stems, or other protected cavities. Workers forage over vegetation and the ground for sugary secretions, honeydew, and small animal food. When threatened, an individual can defend itself with a firm mandible bite and chemical secretions.
