Saithe
Pollachius virens
Adult saithe live in cold North Atlantic coastal and offshore waters, often ranging through the middle of the water column. They hunt fish, crustaceans, and squid with rapid pursuits and snapping jaws. A pale lateral line contrasts with their dark back, a useful feature for identifying this large cod relative.
