Rusty Tussock Moth
Orgyia antiqua

Adults occur around woodland, hedgerows, gardens, and other places where the caterpillars' host plants grow. Males fly mainly at night, using their feathery antennae to locate the pheromones released by females. Adults do not feed and live only briefly, focusing their energy on mating and egg-laying. The sexes are strikingly different: males are winged, while females are pale, wingless, and remain close to their cocoon.
