Black-browed Albatross
Thalassarche melanophris

Adult black-browed albatrosses range widely over the Southern Ocean and nest in dense colonies on windy islands. They soar low over waves to find squid, fish, krill, and discarded carrion at the sea surface. Breeding pairs perform bill-touching displays and raise a single chick with shared care. Their exceptional dynamic soaring lets them travel great distances while using very little energy.
