Pennsylvania Dingy Ground Beetle
Harpalus pensylvanicus

Adults are dark ground beetles found in crop fields, grasslands, gardens, and other open habitats with loose soil. They run across the ground after dark, eating weed seeds as well as insects and other small invertebrates. During the day they shelter under stones, litter, or clods of earth. The species is often considered beneficial because it consumes agricultural weed seeds and potential pest insects.
