Gilt-head Bream
Sparus aurata

Adult gilt-head bream live around Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic coasts, often over sandy bottoms, seagrass beds, and rocky shallows. They feed on molluscs, crustaceans, worms, and plant material, using strong jaws to crush hard-shelled prey. The species is named for the distinctive golden band between its eyes.
