Black-faced Percher
Diplacodes melanopsis
Adults perch on low twigs, reeds, and bare stems around ponds, marshes, and temporary freshwater pools. From a lookout, they make quick flights to snatch small flying insects such as mosquitoes and midges. They return repeatedly to favored perches, using sharp vision and sudden aerial acceleration to hunt.
