Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo
Zanda funerea

The Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo inhabits eucalypt forests, coastal heaths, and open woodlands across southeastern Australia. It uses its heavy bill to tear apart branches and seed cones, feeding especially on wood-boring beetle larvae and seeds. Its slow, undulating flight and mournful calls can carry over long distances, while its yellow tail panels flash clearly overhead.
