Bull Ant
Myrmecia pyriformis

Bull ants inhabit open woodland, heath, and forest habitats in southeastern Australia, often foraging alone on the ground. Adults hunt small invertebrates with their large mandibles and also take nectar and honeydew. Their large eyes give them excellent vision, and a threatened ant can deliver a notably painful venomous sting.
