Dog Snapper
Lutjanus jocu
Adult dog snappers inhabit coral reefs, rocky ledges, wrecks, and nearby coastal waters in the western Atlantic. They are ambush predators that eat fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods, usually hunting around structure at dusk or night. Adults can grow much larger than most reef snappers and have notably strong canine-like teeth.
