Golden Stag Beetle
Lamprima aurata
Adult golden stag beetles inhabit forests and woodland edges with old, decaying trees. They feed on tree sap, fruit juices, and other sugary fluids, often visiting sap flows after dark. Males use their enlarged mandibles to wrestle rival males for access to feeding sites and mates.
