Silty Hornsnail
Pleurocera canaliculata

Silty hornsnails inhabit rivers and streams with firm bottoms, especially where clean water flows over rocks and gravel. They graze algae, diatoms, and organic film from submerged surfaces, helping keep those surfaces clear. Adults carry an elongated, strongly ridged shell and can seal themselves inside with an operculum when threatened.
