Collared Peccary
Pecari tajacu

Collared peccaries inhabit dry scrub, desert margins, grasslands, and wooded tropical habitats throughout the Americas. They forage for fruits, roots, seeds, bulbs, invertebrates, and tough cactus pads. When threatened, an adult may clack its teeth, bristle its coat, and charge or bite with its sharp canine tusks. A strong scent gland on the back is used for scent marking.
