Chinese Water Deer Fawn
Hydropotes inermis (fawn)
Chinese water deer fawns lie concealed in dense reeds, grasses, and wet woodland cover while their mothers forage nearby. They nurse at first and gradually begin nibbling tender grasses, shoots, and leaves. Their spotted coat provides effective camouflage, and they remain still for long periods when danger approaches.
