Ruby Meadowhawk
Sympetrum rubicundulum

Adults patrol sunny ponds, marsh edges, fields, and gardens, often returning to a low perch between flights. They catch small flying insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and midges on the wing. Males develop a vivid red abdomen as they mature, while the species is an agile aerial hunter with large, nearly all-around vision.
