Chestnut Teal
Anas castanea

Chestnut Teals inhabit freshwater wetlands, lagoons, and sheltered estuaries across southern Australia. They dabble in shallow water for aquatic plants, seeds, insects, and small crustaceans. Males develop rich chestnut plumage with a glossy green head, while females are more softly mottled for camouflage around nesting cover.
