Cyclops Jumping Spider
Opisthoncus polyphemus

The Cyclops jumping spider is an Australian jumping spider found on vegetation and tree trunks in woodland and scrub habitats. It actively stalks small insects and other arthropods, then makes a rapid, silk-secured jump to seize prey. Like other jumping spiders, it relies on exceptionally sharp vision rather than a capture web when hunting. Its name refers to the conspicuous enlarged central eye region typical of its alert, forward-facing gaze.
