Kentish Snail
Monacha cantiana

The Kentish snail lives in damp grassland, hedgerows, gardens, and other sheltered places across parts of western Europe. It feeds mainly by rasping algae, decaying plant material, fungi, and fresh vegetation with its radula. During dry or cold weather it withdraws into its pale, rounded shell and may shelter beneath stones, leaf litter, or soil. Its shell is usually creamy white to pale brown and often bears a faint darker band around the edge.
