Needle Shell
Bittium reticulatum

The adult needle shell inhabits sandy and muddy coastal shallows, often around seagrass beds and algal growth. It slowly grazes microscopic algae, diatoms, and detritus from submerged surfaces. Its tall, tightly coiled shell and closing operculum help protect it from small predators and shifting sediment.
