Vinegar Eel
Panagrellus redivivus

Vinegar eels are minute free-living nematodes found in acidic, microbe-rich liquids such as vinegar, fermenting plant material, and damp organic matter. They swim with vigorous side-to-side wriggles through thin films of water. They feed chiefly on bacteria, yeasts, and other microscopic organisms. Despite the name, they are not true eels and can survive in vinegar concentrations that exclude many other small animals.
