Vinegar Eel
Turbatrix aceti

Vinegar eels are tiny free-living nematodes found in unpasteurized vinegar, fermenting fruit, and other acidic liquid habitats. They swim by rapidly flexing their slender bodies and feed mainly on bacteria and yeast. Despite their common name, they are not true eels but roundworms, and they can survive acidic conditions that exclude many other animals.
