Green Tiger Beetle
Cicindela campestris
Adults patrol sunny heathland, woodland clearings, grasslands, and bare sandy ground. They run with exceptional speed and make short flights when pursuing prey or escaping danger. Small insects, spiders, and other invertebrates are caught with strong mandibles. Their bright metallic green colour makes them one of the most recognizable ground beetles in Europe.
