Latona deltoides
Adult pipis live buried in sandy coastal shallows, especially on wave-swept beaches and sheltered estuaries. They feed by filtering plankton and suspended organic material from passing seawater. A powerful foot lets them rebury themselves quickly after waves uncover them, while the thick shell provides strong protection.
