Sunburst Anemone
Anthopleura sola

Sunburst Anemones inhabit rocky intertidal shores along the Pacific coast, anchoring firmly in tide pools and crevices. Their tentacles catch small fish, crustaceans, and other drifting invertebrates, which are subdued with stinging cells. A distinctive ring of bright tentacles surrounds the mouth, while the column may be covered with shell fragments and debris for protection.
