Lichen Running-spider
Philodromus margaritatus
The lichen running-spider lives on lichen-covered tree trunks, fences, rocks, and walls across much of Europe. Its flattened, mottled body blends remarkably well with bark and lichen as it waits or stalks small insects. Rather than building a prey-catching web, it runs rapidly after prey and immobilizes it with a venomous bite. Its camouflage can make it nearly invisible even at close range.
