Kelp Gull
Larus dominicanus

Kelp Gulls inhabit shorelines, estuaries, islands, lakes, and harbours across the Southern Hemisphere. They forage opportunistically for fish, crustaceans, eggs, carrion, refuse, and small animals, often taking food from the water or ground. Adults patrol with steady flight and may swoop down to seize prey or defend a nesting territory. Their dark-backed plumage and yellow bill with a red spot distinguish mature birds.
