Tepper's Chironomid
Chironomus tepperi

Adult Tepper's chironomids are delicate non-biting midges found near the freshwater habitats where they developed. They fly in search of mates and suitable places for females to lay egg masses on water. Adults live briefly and feed little or not at all, depending largely on energy stored from the larval stage. Despite their mosquito-like appearance, they lack the piercing mouthparts used for blood feeding.
