Serpent Coral
Pachyseris rugosa

Serpent coral grows across clear tropical reefs, often forming thin, folded plates with distinctive winding ridges. Its polyps feed on plankton with stinging tentacles while symbiotic algae provide much of its energy in daylight. The convoluted surface increases light capture and gives the colony its wrinkled appearance.
