Eastern Foldingdoor Spider
Antrodiaetus unicolor

The Eastern foldingdoor spider lives in moist woodland soils across parts of eastern North America, occupying a silk-lined burrow with a hinged, soil-covered door. It waits just inside the entrance and lunges out to seize passing insects and other small arthropods. Prey is subdued with its fangs and venom before being dragged into the burrow. Its concealed door is so well disguised with leaf litter and soil that it can be extremely difficult to spot.
