Common Foldingdoor Spider
Antrodiaetus pacificus

The common foldingdoor spider lives in moist forests and shaded banks of the Pacific Northwest, occupying a silk-lined burrow in soil or moss. It waits beneath a hinged, debris-covered door and rushes out to seize insects and other small invertebrates passing nearby. Prey is subdued with a bite before being pulled back into the tunnel. Its carefully camouflaged door can be extremely difficult to spot against the surrounding ground.
