Argentine Horned Frog
Ceratophrys ornata

Argentine horned frogs inhabit humid grasslands, woodland edges, gardens, and seasonal wetlands of central South America. They spend much of the day buried with only their eyes exposed, waiting to ambush passing prey. Adults consume insects, other frogs, reptiles, and small mammals, using an exceptionally wide mouth and powerful bite. Their dramatic eyelid projections give them the horned appearance behind their common name.
