Red-bellied Jumping Spider
Philaeus chrysops

Red-bellied jumping spiders inhabit sunny grasslands, heaths, woodland edges, and dry open ground across much of Europe and parts of Asia. They stalk small insects and other arthropods using exceptionally sharp vision, then make a rapid leap to seize prey. Rather than building a prey-catching web, they use silk mainly for draglines, shelters, and egg sacs. Males are especially conspicuous, with a vivid red abdomen used in visual courtship displays.
