Aurochs
Bos primigenius

The aurochs was a large wild cattle species that ranged across open woodland, grassland, and marshy river valleys of Europe, Asia, and North Africa before its extinction. Adults grazed grasses, sedges, herbs, and browse, shifting feeding areas with the seasons. Bulls were especially formidable, using their long forward-curving horns in contests and defense; the last known individual died in Poland in 1627.
