Immaculate Antlion Larva
Myrmeleon immaculatus (larva)
This larva lives in dry, loose sand beneath open woodland edges and sandy clearings. It digs a steep-sided pit and waits buried at the bottom for ants and other small insects to slip in. Its oversized sickle-shaped jaws can flick sand at struggling prey to help pull it downward.
