Six-Banded Armadillo
Euphractus sexcinctus

The six-banded armadillo inhabits savannas, scrub, grasslands, and forest edges across central South America. Mostly active at night or during cooler hours, it digs for insects, worms, carrion, fruit, and small vertebrates. Its powerful foreclaws excavate burrows and food caches, while its flexible armored bands protect its back.
