Australian Paper Wasp
Polistes humilis

Australian paper wasps occupy woodland edges, gardens, and buildings where sheltered sites support their exposed paper combs. Adults hunt soft-bodied insects, especially caterpillars, to feed developing larvae, while also taking nectar and other sugary liquids. Females defend themselves and the nest with a painful sting. Unlike honey bees, a paper wasp can usually sting more than once.
