Big-Eared Radix
Radix auricularia

Big-Eared Radix is a large freshwater snail found in still or slow-moving ponds, marshes, ditches, and vegetated lake margins. It glides over submerged plants and surfaces, grazing algae, decaying vegetation, and biofilm with its rasping radula. When disturbed, it retreats into its thin, ear-shaped shell or clings tightly to a surface. Like many pond snails, it is a simultaneous hermaphrodite, with individuals capable of both male and female reproductive roles.
