Eyespot Anthelid Moth
Anthela ocellata
The adult eyespot anthelid moth is a nocturnal inhabitant of Australian forests, woodlands, and gardens near suitable larval host plants. It flies after dark to find mates, and females place eggs on foliage for the next generation. The bold eyespot markings on its wings can startle or distract predators when the moth is exposed.
