Black-and-Red Bug
Tropidothorax leucopterus
Adults occur in sunny grasslands, scrub, and gardens where suitable host plants grow. They use a piercing beak to feed mainly on seeds, often climbing stems and seed pods. Fully developed wings allow short flights between plants, while their warning colours advertise chemical protection gained from their food.
