Torrid Jewel Bug
Pachycoris torridus
Adult torrid jewel bugs inhabit tropical vegetation, especially around host shrubs and fruiting plants. They feed by piercing seeds, fruits, and soft plant tissues with their sucking mouthparts. The glossy, shield-shaped adult can fly between plants and releases a pungent defensive secretion when threatened.
