Bee Moth
Aphomia sociella

Adult bee moths are nocturnal and rest in dark, sheltered places during the day. They fly at dusk to seek suitable bee nests or stored comb in which to lay eggs. Adults have reduced mouthparts and rely little on feeding compared with the destructive larval stage. Their muted brown coloring helps them remain inconspicuous on wood, bark, and hive surfaces.
