Western Skink
Plestiodon skiltonianus

Western skinks live in sunny woodland edges, grasslands, gardens, and rocky areas with cover close by. They hunt insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates, darting through ground cover with rapid, agile movements. Adults often bask to warm themselves before becoming active. When threatened, they flee into crevices or may shed their tail as a distraction.
