Coquí
Eleutherodactylus coqui

The coquí is a small terrestrial frog native to Puerto Rico, where it lives in moist forest leaf litter, shrubs, gardens, and rocky crevices. Mostly active at night, it hunts small insects, spiders, and other invertebrates with quick leaps and a sticky tongue. Males are renowned for their sharp two-note “ko-KEE” advertisement call, often given from elevated leaves or branches. Unlike many frogs, it develops directly from eggs into tiny froglets rather than passing through a free-swimming tadpole stage.
