Ocellated Skink
Chalcides ocellatus

Ocellated skinks inhabit dry scrub, gardens, rocky ground, and cultivated areas, usually staying close to ground cover. They hunt insects, spiders, snails, and other small animals, while sometimes eating plant material. When threatened, they slip into loose soil or crevices and may shed their tail to distract a predator.
