Invisible Sniper Ant
Parasyscia nitidulus
This small, cryptic ant inhabits soil, rotting wood, and deep leaf litter in tropical forests. It hunts other small arthropods, especially other ants, using quick bites and a sting at close range. Most activity takes place below the surface or beneath debris, where its dark body is difficult to spot. Its unusually secretive, predatory lifestyle has earned it a reputation as a hidden hunter.
