Stable Fly
Stomoxys calcitrans

Adult stable flies occur around livestock, wildlife, and other mammals in open rural habitats. Both sexes take blood meals with their rigid piercing mouthparts, though they may also visit nectar and other sugar sources. Unlike house flies, stable flies commonly bite the legs and lower body of their hosts.
