European Dwarf Mantis
Ameles spallanzania
The European dwarf mantis inhabits dry grasslands, shrubland, and open woodland edges across parts of southern Europe. It is an ambush predator, remaining still among vegetation before lunging at flies, moths, and other insects. Adults use a raised foreleg display to appear threatening when disturbed.
