Cinereous Chiton
Lepidochitona cinerea

Cinereous chitons inhabit rocky shores, clinging firmly to stones in the intertidal zone. They emerge to graze algae and biofilm with a rasping radula, then shelter in cracks as conditions become harsh. Eight overlapping shell plates protect the flexible body while still allowing it to conform tightly to uneven rock.
