Darkface arion
Arion distinctus
The darkface arion is a small terrestrial slug found in gardens, hedgerows, woodland edges, and other damp places across parts of Europe. It is chiefly active at night or in wet weather, sheltering beneath stones, logs, and leaf litter during dry periods. It grazes on decaying plant material, fungi, algae, and tender vegetation with its rasping radula. Its dark head and tentacles contrast with its paler body, helping distinguish it from similar small Arion slugs.
