Pale Swallowtail Chrysalis
Papilio eurymedon (chrysalis)

The chrysalis is secured upright to a twig, stem, or other sheltered surface with silk. Its mottled green or brown coloring helps it resemble a small piece of bark or dried plant material. Inside the case, the caterpillar's body is reorganized into its adult form, and some chrysalises overwinter before the butterfly emerges.
